Overview
The 3D PotterBot Scara V4 is our largest model for 3D ceramic and paste printing. It prints multiple large objects non-stop and can be combined with a continuous flow hopper to print structures and walls.
Innovative Design
The Scara V4 is the first viable large-scale ceramic 3D printer that uses real clay. Its advanced design and substantial construction handle onboard loads like the 3D Potter 3600 ml clay extruder or a hose assembly. Where it truly shines is when it couples with our large capacity continuous high-pressure hose extrusion system, allowing clay loads between 85-250 lb continuous extrusion.
Customization Options
The build envelope diagrams represent the 45 in z height. However, we can customize z heights up to 9 feet and diameters up to 8.5 feet. The Scara V4’s build envelope is unique because it can print 360 degrees with continuous rotation. This feature lets you create huge vessels with the printer inside the structure, opening opportunities to print habitat structures (houses). Moreover, larger printers are available for this project.
Versatile Printing
Another unique feature is printing multiple objects within the specified envelope sequentially. For instance, you can print a vessel on the far left side and continue until there’s no more space.

User-Friendly Control
You can enjoy full control through a web interface, with no apps or software installation required. If you prefer a non-wifi version, contact us for an ethernet connection.
Industrial-Grade Performance
This is a dedicated heavy-duty, purpose-built robot, not a souped-up 3D printer. It uses sophisticated harmonic drive units, the same drives found in large industrial robots. These drives offer precision movement down to fractions of a second of a degree, ensuring precise prints with no backlash or jittery movements. They’re designed for maximum rigidity and extreme accuracy.

Setup and Space Requirements
Position the machine on a substantial tabletop to start printing within a limited envelope area. Alternatively, dedicate a space for partial or full envelope. The space needed depends on the end-user and the chosen print envelope. Whether on the tabletop or the floor, the Scara V4 requires direct mounting for maximum stability, achieved with multiple screws. If using a tabletop, ensure it is of substantial construction (minimum 1.5″ thick heavy plywood or wood). An inadequate table will diminish print results depending on the build envelope and print speed.
